The 4th of July weekend has come and gone, and with it came record breaking sales for the Green Rush. The majority of the public is still unaware of the difference between a strain of cannabis and an herb, but even those that understand the difference may be confused as to why the 4th of July weekend has been dubbed the “420” holiday.

With four states having legalized recreational marijuana this past year, the 4th of July weekend is becoming a celebration for many to celebrate 1.5 million pot smokers in the United States. According to the states that fully legalized it, a quarter of their population voted for it last year. This weekend is also a great time for entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry to show off their sales and marketing skills. Here are four tips for how you can succeed this weekend.

Historical records show that cannabis sales typically occur on the weekend before April 4. July will increase dramatically. Friday, the second one. July retail sales are expected to be nearly $91,000,000, 60% more than on a normal Friday.

Cannabis software and analytics company Akerna (NASDAQ: KERN) released an urgent new report this morning predicting that legal cannabis sales in the U.S. will rise to more than $206,000,000 in Q4. July 2021.

Since Connecticut was the last state to legalize cannabis, 38 states already have laws allowing for adult and/or medical use. Not all states have dispensaries yet, so this data does not reflect sales in the 38 legal states.

Revenue estimate for the 4th July 2021

According to the Flash report, historical data shows that cannabis sales generally increase on the weekend before April 4. July will increase dramatically. Retail sales on Friday, July 2 are expected to rise to a total of nearly $91,000,000, 60% more than on a normal Friday. The report states that the 2. July will be the second busiest sales day of the year, behind 4/20. Cannabis sales are scheduled for Saturday the 3rd. July, at $72,000,000 and for Sunday, the 4th. July, estimated at $43,000,000. Based on historical data, Sunday is usually the lowest sales day of the week, but pharmacies will still sell more than usual because it is a holiday.

Compared to last year, we saw a 23% increase in the number of items consumers and patients purchased for the 4th of July weekend. Buy in July, says James Arendt, business intelligence architect at Akerna. Because the holiday falls on a Sunday this year, pharmacies must evaluate their staffing levels and prepare their supplies before the weekend to be ready for increased traffic and sales.

  • Other goods represent 1% of sales

  • The 30-40 age group will represent 31% of consumers.
  • 20% of consumers will be between 40 and 50 years old.

  • Consumers over 60 will account for 9% of sales.

Akerna regularly publishes summary reports. Last year’s 4th anniversary celebration report. July forecasts an 87% increase in revenue over the fourth quarter. Over the July weekend, Americans are expected to spend more on cannabis than barbecue. Historically, consumers spent more than $371 million on chicken in the two weeks before July 4, or about $37 million per day. Akerna expects cannabis sales to exceed $260 million in just three days, or about $86 million a day.
