Cannabidiol, known better as CBD, has gained widespread popularity among the medical community because of its alleged ability to help treat a wide range of medical conditions. There are currently over 100 studies investigating the therapeutic benefits of CBD, with over half focused on its potential effects on anxiety. CBD has also been found to reduce pain in multiple ways, including acting on the endocannabinoid system. However, it is still unclear whether CBD has an impact on other types of pain.

Peer-reviewed research from the University of Pennsylvania has recently concluded that cannabidiol (CBD), a non-intoxicating compound found in cannabis, has a number of benefits for those with a history of emotional problems.

There is a growing body of research that suggests there is a strong link between cannabis and emotional well-being. According to clinical study results published in JAMA Psychiatry, daily CBD treatment is linked to reduced levels of emotional fatigue, anxiety, and depression.

A group of researchers from Brazil’s University of So Paulo assessed the safety and effectiveness of CBD therapy in a group of 120 frontline health care workers. Half of the individuals in the research were given 300mg of CBD daily for four weeks. Others were not provided with the material.

When compared to individuals who did not get CBD therapy, those who did showed less symptoms of emotional fatigue and burnout. CBD use was also linked to lower levels of anxiety and sadness. However, five of the CBD-treated individuals had to withdraw out of the study after experiencing severe side effects, including increased liver enzymes.

The authors concluded, “This randomized clinical trial found that daily treatment with CBD, 300 mg, for 4 weeks in combination with standard care was superior to standard care alone for reducing the symptoms of emotional exhaustion, anxiety, and depression among frontline health care professionals working with patients with COVID-19.” “Cannabidiol may be an effective drug for reducing burnout symptoms in a population with significant mental health needs across the world,” says the study.
