It’s time for a new material overview! PAX is one of the most popular names in the crowded portable vaporizer market. They got a lot more press than my humble blog, and the very first version was nicknamed iPod by smokers for its simplicity. I don’t know if you’ve been here before, but some of these things are a little complicated. PAX was a vape for all men – and women, as you could tell from the Broad City beginners taking a puff. I bought a first-generation PAX myself, because a few years ago, after I moved, I found out that there were big cops in my new building and they were not happy with the stoner upstairs. I needed to suppress the smell for my peace of mind, so I spent $250 on my first vaporizer (and another $80 for a space case that could grind it fine enough to work in PAX). It was good, but a lot went through it, and I didn’t find the effect as strong as smoking. This was typical of most portable vaporizers available at the time: They just couldn’t offer the power that desktop devices could. After a few weeks, I threw them in the closet and went back to paranoia ranting about the rest of the lease. That was about four years ago. I heard so many good things about the new PAX 3 that I decided to buy it at MJ BizCon in Vegas. There was an engraving station where you could specify which Stranger Things character you wanted Nancy to associate with (#Team MindFlayer, woo!) or, I guess, your logo (yaaawn). Anyway, I was delighted when PAX sent me one to try out. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now. From the outside it looks like nothing has changed since the original low-key design, but the PAX 3 has some significant updates.
First, there’s the temperature control, which you control through the PAX app. The first model had three heat settings; now you can set exactly the temperature you want. Why is this important? The effects of the various cannabinoids and terpenes are released at certain temperatures, making this option ideal for medicinal use. The lower temperatures don’t really suit me – around 380 degrees I feel a bit numb, but it doesn’t bother my mind as much as I’d like. It is best to start with a temperature of 400 degrees and increase it to a maximum of 420 degrees as the steam decreases. The higher temperature gives a more classic mental stone. But even at these high temperatures, I find that there are still vegetables left when I open the oven lid, so it’s best to put in a little less than you think you’ll need.

If the goal is to maximize the stock, there is the Efficiency parameter. When you want to go unnoticed, the stealth mode asks the light to cool down. The aroma setting is more applicable if you keep it low too – at the high temperatures where I use the vape, the aroma is destroyed. There are other settings, but I prefer to use Boost. This mode increases the temperature when you inhale vapor, provides stronger performance than standard mode, and extends the time the PAX 3 remains inactive before cooling begins. 
My tolerance has increased a lot since the first PAX thanks to the dubbing, so a full bag from the oven is enough for me now. If you find that this is more than you want to smoke in one sitting, don’t worry! The new PAX 3 has an oven cover that can be used instead of a lid. Oh, yes, the ribs! The PAX 3 also has an oven attachment designed for concentrates. Although the sensation is not as strong as inhaling wax, I think the PAX 3 is better than a regular wax pen – just make sure you set the temperature to maximum. The high is more vivid than I usually feel with a pen, and it affects my body to a greater degree than smoking. It is also very gentle on the lungs. The disadvantage of the concentrated nozzle is that it needs to be cleaned often, even if the amount of splinters is small. 
It has been used about 5 times and is dirty. An overnight soak in alcohol cleaned most of them. 
It was surprisingly easy to clean with the included wire brush and a paper towel soaked in alcohol. PAX 3 is the fulfillment of the promises of the first generation, as prophesied by the prophets! I love having a discreet, portable vaporizer that can really keep me medicated during my adventures – a pack of flowers and some shatter in the concentrate atomizer and I’ll be ready to go in a few hours. It’s much less cumbersome than my desktop vape, and I often prefer it to smoking at home, but I can’t use it to evaluate flavors in my flower reviews. My only real complaint about the PAX 3 is that the mouthpiece gets uncomfortably hot at high temperatures towards the end of the session. Overall, though, it’s so user-friendly, clean and powerful that we can overlook this small downside.
