South Dakota is a state that has way too many secrets. Despite the fact that Alaska and Colorado voted to legalize cannabis back in November of 2012, the state’s Governor, Dennis Daugaard, has refused to let the South Dakota legislature vote on the issue.
With the South Dakota Legislature starting its session this next week, Governor Kristi Noem will likely continue to suppress cannabis votes. In fact, the governor has vetoed three bills proposed by House Judiciary Committee on Drug Policy this year. Last year, the governor vetoed four bills out of six proposed.

South Dakota is the fifth most populous state in the United States, 17th in area, with an estimated population (as of 2019) of 884,659. It is known for Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial. The largest industry in which South Dakota citizens are employed is the medical industry. As for medical or recreational cannabis, the state favors a draconian ban by 2020. Just when cannabis reform in the state finally seemed to be moving in a positive direction, Governor Noem stepped in.
The voters said yes, but Governor Noem had other plans.
The 3rd. In November 2020, the state of South Dakota voted to legalize cannabis. The vote to legalize cannabis for recreational and medical purposes passed. This is great news as voters across the state have come together to show their elected officials what they want. Unfortunately, even with a vote in America, one person with a personal agenda can change everything. This term refers to a very dubious person. I’m talking about none other than the governor of South Dakota, Christie Lynn Noem. The progress made by voters who wanted to legalize cannabis in their state was quickly undone when the state’s governor intervened with a personal agenda and decided that people don’t know what’s good for them. Before we examine the repugnant view of this particular man, let’s look at the history of Governor Noem’s character.

Those who worked for the governor told the media: It’s horrible working for them. Actions speak louder than words, but for what it’s worth, Governor Noem’s actions confirm the claim that she is not a good person to work for and confirm my own opinion that she is a dubious person in terms of morals and values. She’s used to getting better and leaving the state behind. The media quoted Governor Noem as saying: Because of the lack of revenue growth, I cannot recommend inflationary increases for education, Medicaid or public employee wages. Meanwhile, his daughter was hired by the governor’s staff even before she graduated, with a salary of just under $50,000 a year. These days, her daughter earns about half of what her mother does. And that’s not all: They say the rich get even richer when they stay in the family, which might explain why the governor’s son-in-law, Kyle Peters, also makes nearly $60,000 a year as an employee in the governor’s economic development office. Some have said the South Dakota governor is a stubborn boss who consistently makes bad decisions, doesn’t listen to the advice of his staff and aspires to a cabinet post in the Trump administration. 
Unfortunate decisions, disrespectful comments and a clear lack of support for his constituents
By bad decisions, they may mean the recent media coverage of Governor Noem for using the state plane for political travel at taxpayer expense. Recently released flight logs may show that the governor has misappropriated thousands of dollars of public money by attending out-of-state events hosted by private organizations. In another example of questionable character, a Christian nonprofit opened a food bank that rewarded needy students with loans for grocery shopping. These credits were earned through acts of service and good works. The governor was responding to a program put on by Paul Juarez of First Refuge Ministries, a Christian nonprofit in Sanger: There are no free meals. That’s a pretty bold statement from a woman who has apparently misappropriated public funds by traveling the country with it and attending private events to further her political career. After studying this politician’s career and what she is doing to her state, I can’t believe impeachment hasn’t even been brought up. The governor can be deposed, just like anyone else. Get this woman out of her office before she destroys your employees!
Governor Noem’s personal subpoena may cause a stir in the election
It’s a sad day for America when citizens exercise their right to vote on legalizing something, and it all turns out to be in vain because those in charge think otherwise. This is a misconception of democracy and should be criminalized! Highway Patrol Chief Rick Miller, Pennington County Sheriff Kevin Tom, and Governor Christy Noem are all, in my mind, criminals motivated by private agendas. They see the legalization of cannabis as a bad decision and have even challenged it in court. I don’t think they like losing the ability to continue to prosecute peaceful cannabis users. Surely it should be too difficult to catch the real criminals if they have enough time to engage in such nonsense. Attorney Brendan Johnson, representing South Dakotans For Better Marijuana Laws, urged the Supreme Court to be cautious in its decision to reject the ballot measure because it could affect future attempts by citizens to change laws through the ballot box. I would support Johnson’s attorney. I mean, what’s the point of voting if your state’s elected official thinks you’re not educated enough to make your own decisions and cancels your vote? I’m just saying it doesn’t look like a democracy to me. Why do we allow such politicians to remain in power in our country? Am I the only one who wants to see this woman charged? When you start digging into the government of South Dakota, you discover that it is just as dishonest and corrupt as the federal government in this country. Something must be done, please, I urge you not to vote for this woman again! At this point, it remains to be seen whether the elected officials of the state will respect the will of the people or not. The exact date of the vote to challenge last November’s election has not yet been announced, but it is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
